Orthodox Churches are the direct continuation of the Church established by Christ himself.
They teach the original doctrine that Jesus himself taught.
The western christian churches, split apart form this church do to differences in practice. The Catholic church decided that certain things should be changed and certain things should be added. The Orthodox Church disagreed and thought that the original teaching should be kept, as that is His word.
So the Catholics split up and added in their own new teachings and styles. They also believe in the Pope being first among equals, while the Orthodox Church claims that since Jesus never picked a pope or mentioned one in his original church, so they dont have one.

∙ 11y agoWestern Chirstians usually have the freedom to express their faith, whereas Christians from (say China) are put in jail for having a Bible. Unfortunately, Western Christians don't realize how blessed they are.
