There are many ways the US legal system impacts business. One may think of anti-trust law, environmental standards enforced by legislation, or even the conditions attached to acceptance of funds from the TARP program. To take the example of anti-trust, certain behavior by business people, such as the formation of cartels fixing prices, or the manipulation of the stock market via insider trading is prohibited by law. Businesses therefore need to take these laws into account when making decisions. One could argue that these laws limit the business' freedom to act, though they are intended to avoid abuse of a dominant position and ensure legal certainty.
