It depends on whether or not you are adopted.

If you're not adopted, visit your state's Vital Records office/webpage to obtain a certified copy of your original birth certificate--this is essentially the same thing as having the original and will be sufficient proof of citizenship/identity for obtaining things like driver's licenses, Social Security cards/benefits, and U.S. Passports.

If you are adopted, and you live in Alaska, Kansas, Alabama, Maine, New Hampshire, or Oregon, you can also go to your state's Vital Records office and request a certified copy of your original birth certificate. Adopted people in any other state can only receive certified copies of their amended birth certificates, not the original record of their birth.

Your birth certificates issued by the state in which you is born. You can contact the state's court clerk where you can acquire a certified copy of your own certificate, even though it is a replace birth certificate it would still be the original certified copy. In order to obtain an original copy, you must turn in an application that includes your full name, you parents full names, which they assume that you possess them, the location of birth and the purpose of your search and you'll also need the date of birth. You must also send them a copy of your legal identification that which should be updated and current.

There are online services that are available today, making a birth certificate easy to acquire. You can also replace a birth certificate for a relative based on genealogy purposes; this information can be found on the web.
