Clog and oxfords are very different shoes. They are different because clogs originated in Holland, and the oxfords originated in Italy which are totally different places with different styles. The clog is made of wood and usually have no shoe strings. On the other hand, oxfords have shoestrings and defined sections. Oxfords are only worn by fashionable people. The men on the war front wore laced up leather boots with a thick sole. Those who served in administration on the home front wore leather oxfords. Each branch of service had different colors of footwear but the styles were basically the same. The women soldiers wore female oxfords and the nurses wore white nurse oxford shoes.
