Ribs 8 through 10. The cartilage of rib 8 connects to the cartilage of rib 7. The cartilage of rib 9 connects to the cartilage of rib 8. The cartilage of rib 10 connects to the cartilage of rib 9.
It sounds like a benign (not harmful) cyst. Cysts are small balloons of fluid that feel hard to the touch. If the lump on your rib rapidly gets larger, becomes discolored or painful, talk to your doctor.

I would guess it to be a condition called Costochondritus which is an inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs. It can be quite painful and will last for days sometimes while at other times it it gone after a few hours. It is very painful even to breathe and can be very debilitating.
There is no such medical condition as a torn cartilage in the rib area. If you have had injury, you can get a fracture of ribs or just bruising from trauma

I m sorry ii can't answer this but my left floating rib rift beneath the rib cage when I suck in sticks out of my skin my right one does not and when I touch that rib it feels like it stabs into something inside my body someone really needs to answer us
