The Police Service of Northern Ireland. It was formerly called the Royal Ulster Constabulary, which had a reputation for being one of the world's most dangerous police forces to work in. The police service was renamed in 2001. It was originally going to be called the Northern Ireland Police Service, but this had the unfortunate acronym "NIPS".
