This detergent is the linear alkylbenzene sulfonate.See this link for several production details.
It is probably the neutralisation of the detergent, an alkali, and water, although the pH of water is 7. Neutralisation is an exothermic reaction, which means heat is produced, therefore detergent gets hot when wet.
There is an effect on Surface Tension when detergent is put in the water. I am doing an experiment for my upcoming Science fair and i am doing a Detergent Powered Boat/Surface Tension...I have tested it many times with and without detergent, when it doesn't have detergent it floats and then sinks after 5 seconds but with detergent it zips through the water...I can not give you the reason for this as i am myself still researching on why this is!
The best thing is soak it a while in a detergent and water solution then scrub lightly to remove stuck on dirt. Finally rinse in plain water to remove the detergent. Anything more aggressive could expose the inner zinc core, damaging the coin.
Most people would agree that Gain laundry detergent is better than Dyamo laundry detergent. Gain is more expensive in price but a better quality detergent.

forget the stain remember the detergent
Palm Olive because Tide Detergent doesn't work. I am doing a science experiment including these two things. Tide detergent did not make any bubbles. I am still trying to figure out why but yah. Hope this helps!

pepper is a different chemical to that of detergent and therefore they repel
Yeah it does. I did it for a science assignment. The more you add the better!!
