Metal oxides form alkalis when they dissolve in water. Non-metal oxides for acids.
For example:
carbon dioxide + water --> carbonic acid
magnesium oxide + water --> magnesium hydroxide
a metal hydroxide and H2 gas a metal hydroxide and H2 gas
metal oxides do not react with water .Metal reacts with water and it made metal oxides.
Metal oxides form when metals combine with oxygen.
water and a salt
Water!
and Hydrogen!
water and salt
an acid
Hydroxides.
potassium oxide is formed. 4K + O2 ---> 2K2O
Iron works well with carbon and other metals. but i have no idea what they make.
H
sodium oxide (maybe) because when an element react with oxygen an oxide is formed
Reactants: -iron -oxygen Products: -rust
metal oxide
They have formed an oxide. An oxide is a compound of a metal and oxygen.
Most of the non-metals combine with oxygen to form acidic oxides.
potassium oxide is formed. 4K + O2 ---> 2K2O
Nitrogen oxide can refer to a binary compound of oxygen and nitrogen, or a mixture of such compounds.
calcium oxide is calcium combine whit oxygen
Iron works well with carbon and other metals. but i have no idea what they make.
Copper Oxide

Oxygen is the most reactive component of air. So for nearly all metals that burn in air only the oxide is formed. There is one exception magnesium burns in air to form the oxide and also traces of nitride.
Contact with oxygen in the air rapidly oxidizes most metals, including beryllium.
Oxides are substances formed by the reaction of oxygen with metals or non-metals.eg. iron oxide(Fe2O3), zinc oxide(ZnO), sulfur dioxide (SO2 )etc.
