I have three gerbils and I think this is the proper way to take care of them:
The last thing depends on if you already have your gerbils. If you already have gerbils ignore this last comment, but if you don't already have gerbils you should know that gerbils do better ingroups than alone so you should get at least two. Don't get ones from different litters though. Get ones from the same litter that already know each other and get along.
take very good care of them
Try Googling the American Gerbil Society (U.S.) and the National Gerbil Society (U.K.).
The longest living gerbil on record lived for 8 years and 4 months. Gerbils typically have a lifespan of 2-4 years in captivity with proper care.
Like if you intruduce a baby gerbil to a female and a male gerbil they might be nice to him but the male gerbil might play fight or fight in the cage i do not think if you leave the baby gerbil in the same cage with the male gerbil or a female gerbil the female gerbil migt fight or play fight with the baby gerbil if u do please be real care full because if the male gerbil no that the babby gerbil if its a baby girl gerbil yhey will mate or if u do the same with the adult female gerbil they mate to with a baby boy gerbil or adult gerbil will mate to and also mate means that the female gerbil have babbies with the male gerbils .
What you must do is act like you really want one, go to the library and check out books about how to care about a gerbil, then "read" them. Then say you will take care of it and stuff, and possibly pay for it.
i would say grams.
It is care that is proper.
My gerbil is prone to biting but I found out on the Internet that if your gerbil bites you don't drop it or do anything to it because it needs to learn that you are not there to hurt it but to care for it and love it. So you will need to hold your gerbil every day for at least ten minutes and it will start to gain your trust and become your best friend.
Yes, this is unusual. Usually a the father stays with the mother and pups and helps to take care of the pups. If your male has died leave a older daughter of the mother to help care for the pups.
Either your gerbil is pregnant, or they have eaten too many sunflower seeds in one sitting. Try removing sunflower seeds from their diet. If they are still fat after one week, then your gerbil is probably expecting. For info on how to take care of baby gerbils, ask on this site 'How do you take care of baby gerbils?'.
gerbils r better. much easier and cheaper to take care of.
Do lots of research! Learn as much as possible about these great animals!
