I have used HPLC at room temperature for reversed phase analysis of organics and I have used it at 4 degrees C for protein purification. Only once have I done any at elevated temperature. Only compounds that are volatile can be analyzed by gas chromatography. Some compounds hence have to be modified so that they are volatile. These compounds also need to be thermally stable as the volume needs to be heated to a high temperature for analysis.
