What is difference between axial piston pumps and vane pumps?

An axial piston pump is a positive displacement pump that has a number of pistons in a circular array within a cylinder block. It can be used as a stand-alone pump, a hydraulic motor or an automotive air conditioning compressor.A radial piston pump is a form of hydraulic pump. The working pistons extend in a radial direction symmetrically around the drive shaft, in contrast to the axial piston pump.

What is difference between radial flow turbine and axial flow turbine?

in a radial flow turbine the steam enters the turbine in the direction of its radius and leaves it in the direction of the axis of the shaft. in a axial flow turbine the steam enters the turbine in the direction of the axis of the shaft and leaves the turbine in the same direction.

Calculate pump efficiency for submersible pump?

pump eff. = (pump dynamic head x pump flow)/(pump h.p x 3960)flow=gallon per minute

What is the difference between booster pump and lifting pump?

The circ pump is used to circulate the water thru the filter. The booster pump is for running the pool sweeper.

Is there a optimal flow rate for maximum heat transfer when using a heat pump?

Yes there is an optimum flow rate. Kind of! The heat pump manufacturer will post on the internet or in the users guide what the maximum and mimimum flow rate through his heat pump should be. I take it that the optimum then, is anywhere within that range. My pump manufacturer prescribes 20 GPM to 70 GPM for the heat pump I will be using. Too low a flow causes the heat pump to overheat. Too high a flow is hard on system components. dburr

What is mean by inward flow in radial turbines?

In a radial flow turbine if the water flows from outward(guidevanes) to inward(runner)then it iscalled Radially inward flow turbine.Ex-Francisturbine(oldmodels).

What causes radial thrust in a centrifugal pump?

When a centrifugal pump operates at its best efficiency point (BEP), the flow angles match with the impeller vane angles. At the BEP, the flow velocity in the volute is uniform around the volute (i.e., there is not acceleration of the fluid in the volute). Therefore, the pressure around the volute is uniform. The uniform pressure around the circumference results in a net zero radial force on the impeller (or the shaft). Note this is theoretical. In practice even at BEP, there is a small radial load because the pressure is not uniform. If the pump is operated away from the BEP, the flow velocities in the volute are non-uniform which results in a non-uniform pressure field and a net radial load (can be obtained by integrating the pressure around the circumference of the volute or the impeller).

What is the different between axial turbocharger and radial turbocharger?

An axial compressor uses many stages of "fans" with stators to compress air in the same direction as its original flow. An example of this is that of *most* turbojet engines' compressors. A radial (or centrifugal) compressor works at right angles to the airflow's original direction. An example of a radial compressor is the compressor on an automotive turbocharger.

What are the main types of hydralic pumps?

Gear pumps. A vane pump. Piston pumps. Radial pump. Centrifugal pumps.

What is the disadvantages of centrifugal compressor?

A centrifugal pump cannot pump air, therefore cannot self prime, like a positive displacement pump.
