The central nervous system is responsible for coordinating all the information that is received from the body, whereas the peripheral nervous system connects the central system to the organs and limbs, relaying communication to and fro.

The somatic system is the part of the peripheral nervous system that is responsible for carrying motor and sensory information both to and from the central nervous system. This system is made up of nerves that connect to the skin, sensory organs and all skeletal muscles. The system is responsible for nearly all voluntary muscle movements as well as for processing sensory information that arrives via external stimuli including hearing, touch and sight.

The central nervous system is composed of all of these nerves. The central nervous system is responsible for many of the reactions we experience daily, because it integrates the nerves and reactions from every part of the human body.
The nervous system takes in sensory information from the peripheral nervous system. This information is then directed to the central nervous system which then responds with a motor reaction that travels back to the peripheral nervous system.
The main difference is that motor neurons move signals away from the central nervous system and spinal cord where as sensory neurons move signals towards the central nervous system and spinal cord.
