Enzymes begin the digestion process, breaking down some starch and fat at the molecular level. Saliva breaks down food caught in the teeth, protecting them from bacteria that cause decay. Saliva also lubricates and protects the teeth, the tongue, and the tender tissues inside the mouth.
Saliva is inhabited by bacteria. Human bite wounds have a high risk of infection unless treated with antibiotics.

Human saliva is not a good cleaner, because saliva is mainly meant for the digestive system. Saliva was meant to break down starches while the food is being chewed, so saliva does not make a good cleaner. Saliva was not meant to clean.
Saliva has a chemical that destroy germs and bacteria, to do not let the bacteria or germ make you sick. So we know that saliva is a good protector of yours.
Depends on your nose i guess... Nobody knows, humans have gotten used to the smell of saliva after 200,000 years on the planet. Same goes with water

saliva helps in decomposition.left over rice, wheat, fruits[carbohydrates]on soil can be easily converted to its simpler form by saliva because it has more enzhmes like amylase, lysozymes which makes the decomposition process faster than normal.to my knowledge i thinkthat it is good tosplit saliva in mud but not in roads. by r.jothika
