Only southern farmers wanted railroad regulation. Only southern farmers wanted to form Granges. The South wanted slaves and the North opposed slavery. Also, the North wanted the nation to turn industrial, not agricultural. Like making manufactored goods and not crops like corn and cotton and beans.
