The Chinese Lion Mask and Lion Dance first appeared in Han Shu which is an offical history record of Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD). Through the development of several Dynasties, this tradition went popular during Nanbei Dynasty (420 - 589 AD). It became culminated and diversified in forms until Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD). Though there isn't a specific time in record, it must be over one thousand years for the Chinese dancing with lion masks to celebrate the new year's coming.
