People usually think of things like stealing, lying and killing as sin but these things are evidences of sin.
Sin is missing the mark (the mark is God) sin is being unlike God.
The effects of sin are seen as immoral, filthy, and indecent actions, worship of idols and witchcraft. People become enemies and they fight; they become jealous, angry, and ambitious. etc etc.
In purgatory we are purified from sin's effects.

The study of sin is called hamartiology. It is a branch of theology that explores the nature of sin, its origin, effects, and ways to overcome it.
No, He didn't. He expiated ALL the sin of Mankind - ever. Did he deliver Mankind from its susceptibility to being enticed to sin? No. Did he remove the effects of the sin in the world up to that time? No. Did he remove the effects of the sin in the world after His time? No. But He promised that there will come a time when those issues will be dispatched, and sin and its effect - death - will be no more. Just give Him time.
Sin entered the world.
I am unclear as to what the "reality of sin" is. Sin itself is a very real thing in almost every religion. The real questions what are: what forms does the sin take, what categories of sins are there, how do you commit sin, how do you repent from sin, what are the physical/social/psychological effects of sinning, etc.
Pain to other people, ourselves, and God. Also separation from God.

Roman Catholic AnswerNot "issues", just one, sin. Sin, and its effects are the root cause of discontent with Our Blessed Lord and His Church.
'Sin' means 'ignorance'. As we do acts then that would have its own effect. This is what we call as "Cause and Effect" As we insert hand into fire hand gets burnt. This is quite natural. Same way we human do so many things without knowing its apt effects. Any how effects are there and we experience it. But any away in the holy Bible sin is said to be "an act against God's will".
These are the effects. It: * Forgives sin. * Reconciles one with God and the community. * Increases grace and the virtue of charity. * Increases self knowledge and strengthens the will. (From the Grade 7 Christ Our Life Book)
Original Sin, created by our original parents Adam and Eve occurred when they both ate of the forbidden fruit in Genesis 1 and 2. Baptism forgives the Original Sin, thus 'erasing' it. By erasing the stain of Original Sin, baptism opens the soul to receive the supernatural grace of God given to mankind via the Holy Spirit. Although this is slightly beyond topic: as with all sin, Original Sin is not without its consequences. To give you a parallel, one could commit a murder and be forgiven completely by God but the consequence remains that the victim's family must now go on without the victim. As such, Baptism may forgive the baptized of the sin but the effects of it remain. For Original Sin, there are four effects: darkening of the intellect (mankind doesn't know the fullness of himself or his actions), weakening of the will (mankind is unable to resist all sin), suffering (mankind must suffer), and death (mankind must die).
