Jewellery sizing is done in concert with your professional body piercer, who will assist you in finding just the right size to allow for the swelling and facial dimensions of the client.
This all depends on what size needle your piercing artist uses when performing the piercing. But after your piercing is healed, you can stretch the gauge size bigger to fit other jewelry. C:
The standard size for naval piercing is 14g with a 7/16", 5/8", or 3/8" length.
Your piercer will pick the best fit for your jewelry. Not really a way to find out unless you ask them.
Did u mean monroe? If so i think its a 16 gage.
The correct side is your left side for a Monroe, your right side a Madonna and center is a Medusa. Your professional body piercer will assist you in selecting the correct size for your piercing, it's not a one size fits all arrangement. Room needs to be left for swelling cleaning etc. and only your piercer will best be able to determine what is best for the initial piercing.
Most studs are either 20ga or 18ga. Piercing shops will most likely pierce them at 16ga. Its perfectly fine to wear smaller gauge jewelry than what the piercing was done at.
Well I would suggest going to your local professional body piercer and have your piercing stretched up with a taper (don't worry it doesn't hurt) , the average size or gauge is 14g . If your jewellery is 16g or smaller then it's too small for the piercing and can pose a danger of tearing the piercing (something you don't want to happen).
Generally a 14g for a male your lip/labret, and 16g for a female lip/labret or monroe, madonna, medusa piercing.
If it's 18ga to 16ga, you can usually just lube up a 16ga piece of jewelry(with jojoba or vitaminE oil) and put it in. For anything larger, you'll have to use tapers.
It's always good to buy body jewelry in person so you can see the size and quality. You can purchase from most piercing studios. Body Candy is a reputable site to buy body jewelry from if you prefer to buy online.
Depending on the person and location of the piercing, it can take anywhere between 2 weeks to 6 months for a lip piercing to heal. After the first 2 weeks you can change the jewelry if no infection is present. Piercers use a 14 gauge needle when piercing, so you might want to down size to a 16 gauge. To test if your piercing is fully healed (this should only be done if there is no infection. Infections mean the wound is not healed), then try removing the jewelry for 5 minutes and put it back in. If you have no trouble putting the jewelry back in and the hole has not begun to close, then try leaving it out for 20 minutes. If the hole doesn't show signs of it closing, then gradually lengthen the time the jewelry is out. A fully healed lip piercing will stay pierced even after leaving the jewelry out for a few days. There will always be a small bit of discharge around your piercing. Healthy discharge will be white, not yellow or pus-like.
Yes. When smaller jewelry is put into a piercing that was pierced at a larger gauge, the piercing will shrink slightly to accommodate it. However, you must be careful when shrinking piercings. If you put in a smaller stud or piece of jewelry then the hole size, it can sink inside of it. Lips are notorious for having small studs sink inside. Ask a piercer for advice when downsizing piercings to be sure that sinking doesnt happen. Sometimes just putting a bigger ball on the end of the stud will keep a smaller post in a piercing, so it doesnt sink.
