A Mac computer is special in many cases. One, it has the luxury of being able to call itself a PC, ever since it adopted Intel processors. However, a PC cannot call itself a Mac. Because both systems now run on Intel's x86 architecture, the argument between Mac vs PC is no longer valid. The real argument should be between Mac OS X and Windows. Mac OS X is a very reliable operating system that almost never gets viruses compared to Windows. Mac OS X is also much more efficient in areas of sleep and hibernation. Most Mac users have to restart their computers once every so many weeks compared to Windows users who will restart many times within the course of a week. Also Mac OS X, ever since the Intel transition, has included support in running Windows natively with BootCamp. No PC on the market, others than Hackintosh's, can run Mac OS X natively.
If you own any Apple product, Mac's included, you are automatically provided with amazingly support courtesy of Apple. This support has be ranked number 1 in consumer satisfaction numerous times.
Mac OS X also understands Windows files including doc, zip, wma, and wmv natively without the need of added software. Even Windows can't read the doc and docx file extension natively without the installation of Microsoft Office or Openoffice.
In order to appear not bias, I will include what Windows does better than Mac OS X. The biggest and most blatant example is that Windows does provide the user with wider options. PC's can be more easily upgraded, hardware wise, than Mac's. Also, seeing as Windows is the preferred operating system in the world, due to it's wide corporate support software, more third party software is developed for Windows rather than Mac OS X. However, third party software developers have started to include Mac OS X versions of their software as the platform has become more popular. Now, most major third party software has builds for a Mac.
This is just a short outline as to why Mac's are so special.
