I have the same question, There is something growing in my garden that is a vine with a small fruit on it.
What does yours look like?
Mine has two inch green leaves with 5 'points'
The flower is has 5 petals and is yellow
Under the yellow flower, the stem 'bulges' out to form the 'fruit' pod thing
The pod-like fruit starts out green and turns yellow
The pod-like fruit has spikes on it while it is green and becomes less spiky as it turns yellow
As the pod-fruit grows the yellow flower withers at the tip of the pod and then falls off
The pod-fruit thing is about 2 inches long, is somewhat oblong with pointed ends (from stem to tip)
Passion Fruit
I think you might mean Piper Nigrum. It is the black pepper traditionally used as a seasoning. It is a vine that is a true tropical (American zone 10), and has flowers and red fruit. The fruit is dried and used as a spice.
Watermelons typically appear on the vine about 30 to 45 days after flowering.
The Grape Vine produces grapes in clusters of fruit.
Cucumbers are a green fruit. They grow on a vine.
A cucumber is a fruit, but for culinary purposes it is a vegetable
The cucumber is the fruit of the cucumber vine plant.
The life cycle of a grape begins with planting a vine, which takes about 3 years to produce fruit. Grapes then go through flowering, fruit set, veraison (ripening), and finally harvesting. After harvesting, the vine goes into dormancy during winter, and the cycle begins anew in the spring.
