Blenders have a "blend" mode on them so someone can blend the ingredients that they have loaded into the blender. Also the name blender comes form the word blend, so using it is a nice way to just give back to the word.

I have seen professional chefs on TV using commercial blenders which have heating elements in them to cook and blend at the same time but I cant remember what they were cooking.
