It was purchased at auction by its present owner, Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown MA for the highest amount ever paid for a piano, 1.2 million dollars. It is a Steinway. It was custom built in 1903 with elaborate decorations designed by the original purchaser, the artist Alma-Tadema.

Professional movers are also less likely to damage the piano. They also have the equipment to move pianos more easily and efficiently.
