Earth science is the study nonliving things basically. Etc rivers, rocks, minerals, earthquakes.... Where as living environment/Biology is the study of living things and how they work.
Ecology is the study of all living things, the environment they live in including nonliving things.
A life scientist may study nonliving things like lakes or rocks to better understand the environment in which living organisms exist. Marine biologist's study everything from algae to the largest whale. Basically anything in the ocean, living or not they will study.
