The sales tax rate in Maryland is currently 6%. This is as of January 3rd 2008. There are, however, exceptions for some things such as medicine, residential energy and a lot of foods that are non-prepared.

Yes there is a six percent sales tax but some things like food fron a grocery store, medicine and medical equipment are not taxed.
