"Nice to Meet You, My Name Is Hotaru." - Rikka rushes to school and informs Amu that her egg has hatched. Hotaru, who is Rikka's guardian character, gets along with everybody. The Guardians tell her that next year she will become a full-fledged Guardian since she now has a Guardian Character. They ask her to perform a speech, but Rikka worries and says that she will screw it up. Hotaru quickly character changes with Rikka, improving her posture and speaking formally. However, when the day comes to read the speech, Rikka hesitates as she sees all the students watching her. She drops the papers, and scatters to pick them up. Amu was going to help, but Tadase stops her. Rikka asks Hotaru why she didn't character change with her and because of this was the reason she messed up. Hotaru says that it's good to make mistakes, and that Rikka should do just that when she's learning new things. Rikka realizes that it's okay and performs the speech without even character changing.
