Cream-spot ladybird was created in 1758.
As it turns out the two spot ladybird can have many morphs depending on your country or territory. This website has a few photos => http://everything-ladybug.com/ladybug-spots.html (not inclusive) The two spot is normally very small. What you are calling the 8 spot is really a morph of the 10 spot. Same family as the two spot but the easiest way to tell them a part is the bellies. The 10 spots are varied like the 2 spot but they always have yellow bellies. They can be found on similar trees, they both like sunny days, and they have all the other ladybird similarities.
aphids, and other small, soft bodied invertebrates
There is loads of breeds of ladybirds also known as (Ladybugs.) The ladybird you say to have no spots that is normal. The ladybird breed you have is the California lady Beetle and it should have a black line going down its hard shell with a small curve spot near the head.
Yes, it is known as the 10-spot ladybird or Adalia 10-punctata.

Ladybird or Ladybug are beetle, able to fly and a predator of greenfly and other insects. Much welcomed in a garden or greenhouse.
The common ladybird, or seven-spot ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata), typically has seven black spots on its bright red or orange elytra (wing covers). However, the number of spots can vary among individuals, and some may have fewer or even no spots at all. This variability does not affect their identification as a member of the ladybird family.
