The Alaska state seal (originally the territorial seal) displays a pastoral scene that includes mountains, lakes, and forests, and icons representing the industries there: a smelter, ship, train, and a farmer plowing a field. Stressing the historic importance of hunting and fishing, a seal and a fish are on the outside band of the seal.
