Specifically, the voice of the Bullfrog is a loud, resonant bass "rumm" or a stuttered "ru-u-u-ummm" that is repeated. When the males become aggressive towards each other, the call becomes a spitting "phphoot!" When the males frighten each other, it becomes a loud "eeek!" followed by a leap to safety in the water.
