"Taotie." This demon figure is said to be a guardian of boundaries. We tie this into a discussion of Chinese geography, and how it was protected by geographic boundaries. We talk also about other animal figures that symbolize protection, such as the lion or lion-dog, and the dragon in China, and the lion as well as gargoyles in European cultures.

I am assuming you arrived at this question after seeing (or reading) the Golden Compass. The word "demon" is described as meaning an agent or source of evil, harm distress or ruin, also as "an evil spirit". As creatures of evil rarely if ever guard anything good the idea of a guardian demon for people is somewhat disturbing. The work of fiction this comes from is, first of all, just that, FICTION, However in this particular instance I believe the word "demon" was used to describe a "creature of spirit". So if that is the case, a guardian demon (angel, animal, fairy, whatever) is all the same thing... and yes, people have spiritual guardians, not all of us choose to accept or acknowledge them.
it was the sisters guardian and in one of the episodes they found out it was they battled a demon to keep her safe and then she went on her marry way
