What is the Irish Gaelic to English translation-Fhir a bhata?
"Fhir a' bhàta" is in Scots Gaelic not Irish (similar but not
the same!)
It's from the song "Fear a' Bhàta" or The Boatman:
(Chorus)
Fhir a' bhàta, na hóro eileFhir a' bhàta, na hóro eileFhir a'
bhàta, na hóro eileMo shoraidh slàn leat 's gach àit' an déid
thu
(Translation)x3 Boatman, na hóro eile (just sounds)My blessings
of health with you wherever you go
(Verse)'S tric mi sealltainn on chnoc as àirdeDh'fheuch am faic
mi fear a' bhàtaAn tig thu 'n-diugh na 'n tig thu màireach'S mar
tig thu idir gur truagh a tha mi
(Translation)I often looked from high hillsSo I might see my
boatmanWill you come today, or come tomorrow?Sad I will be if you
don't come at all
Hope that helps :)
