∙ 14y agoANY note can be the first note of a musical scale or mode. The first note is called the tonic. However, in the practice of solfège, unaccompanied singing in relative pitch, the first note of the scale (in the movable Do system) is called "Do", rhyming with doe, as in Do Re Mi. ∙ 13y agoThat depends on what scale it is. if it's a B flat major scale the first note is going to be a (obviously) B flat. There are many different scales for all Musical Instruments. In a choir the first note is 'do' which varys depending on what pitch you're in and what the key signature is.
