Normally, it's ne (verb) pas. For example, "I am not" is "je ne suis pas". My french teacher said to think of it like a verb sandwich.

You can also you "pas" on it's own for less formal language. "No problem" would be "pas de problem" (not a problem) instead of "il n'a pas de problem".
