pappilary muscle is necessary for the integrity of mitral and tricuspid valve apparatus.they help in the closure and opening of the above said valves during myocardial contractility.any dysfunction of these muscles lead to regurgitation of the coresponding valves and poor myocardial performance ultimately may end up in heart failure.

Small muscle masses that function to regulate the atrioventricular valves?

These small muscles are called papillary muscles. There are five total papillary muscles in the heart, three in the right ventricle and two in the left.

What is the function of the cordinae and the muscle that attach to them?

The chordae tendinae and their attachments to the papillary muscles prevent the AV valves from collapsing backwards into the atria.

Does the papillary muscle surround the pericardial sac?

No

Structure from which chordae tendineae originate?

Chordae tendinae is attached to papillary muscle and the valves.

What is the role of papillary muscle?

The papillary muscles are muscles located in the ventricles of the heart. The role of the papillary muscle is to prevent inversion or prolapse or the atrioventricular valves.

What is the muscle that attached to chordae tendinae?

papillary muscles

Where are the papillary muscle?

inside the left and right ventricle

Is the papillary muscle only present on the left side of the heart?

no.

What papillary muscle surrounds the pericardial sac?

There are papillary muscles IN the ventricles of the heart which keep the tricuspid and the mitral valves (AV valves) closed.

What is the significant name for heart muscle?

cardiac muscle. a type of cardiac muscle is the papillary muscles attach to the lower portion of the interior wall of the ventricles. They connect to the chordae tendineae, which attach to the tricuspid valve in the right ventricle and the mitral valve in the left ventricle. The contraction of the papillary muscles opens these valves. When the papillary muscles relax, the valves close.
