Girl Guide Promise
I promise that I will do my best:
To do my duty to God
To serve the Queen and my country,
and help other people, and
To keep the Guide Law.
This question is very difficult to answer. At the first meeting Juliette Gordon Low held in Savannah, Georgia, she probably used a Girl Guide promise which was being used by Girl Guide troops in other countries.
In some Girl Guide/Girl Scout organizations, particularly in the UK, a Brownie is given a Brownie Promise Box at her Promise Celebration, when she first joins Brownies and recites the Brownie Promise. It is meant to be used to keep their Brownie books and other Guide items. A Brownie can use her box as a place where she can easily find what she needs for the next meeting.

The World Trefoil is the unifying symbol of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and is used on the World Badge. Each part of the World Trefoil has a meaning. The golden Trefoil on a bright blue background represents the sun shining over all the children of the world; the three leaves represent the three-fold Promise as originally laid-down by the Founder; the base of the stalk represents the flame of the love of humanity; the vein pointing upwards through the center of the Trefoil represents the compass needle pointing the way; and the two stars represent the Promise and Law. The World Badge may be worn by all members of the Girl Guide and Girl Scout Movement, girls and adults, in or out of uniform.
