"Waaa" is the call of the Great Basin Spadefoot (Spea intermontana).

Specifically, the voice of the Great Basin Spadefoot is a hoarse, raspy bleating or snoring that is repeated. It is similar to that of the Plains Spadefoot (S. bombifrons), but shorter. The call takes on a bleating quality when temperatures are warmer and more of a snoring quality when temperatures drop. It may be heard after warm spring and summer rains.
