It depends on the language where the X is being used.

"X" does not exist as a letter in Hebrew, nor is there a Hebrew phoneme-equivalent letter, for the way X is pronounced in some modern languages (such as English and present-day French and Spanish). For other modern tongues such as Polish, Greek, Russian and others, X is pronounced like the Dutch "ch" and is used by some to represent the first letter of Hebrew names such as Chaim. (In ancient French and Spanish this letter also had the same hard rasp but has since been softened completely.)
