The Indian government has taken solid steps to protect the Asiatic Lion. Occupying protected areas of the forest where lions roam is prohibited. Villagers who live on the fringes of the forest are prohibited from doing that. Also, hunting the lion is banned. Anyone who does so will be jailed and fined heavily.
