The word "dream" can refer to the involuntary images experienced during sleep, or to the hopes and ambitions you have for your own future in life. So the expression, "having dreams in life," refers to a person's ambition to achieve something worthwhile or to improve one's self or to make the world better in some way.
To dream is for you unconcious mind to start zapping though your memories and thoughts and compile a "movie" while you sleep. For those of you who do not dream it is because 1) You are getting a full cycle of sleep supassing the REM stage and therefore don't remmeber it. Or 2) You just don't remember. However, EVERYONE DOES DREAM!!! It's just a matter of remembering it or not. But to put it simply, you dream because you think, and your mind is working your entire life. The more you think of something in particular (for instance a problem you're having in your life) before you go to sleep, the higher the chances of your dream to be related to it. And, in some cases, your dream can offer you the solution to your problem. (Your subconsious mind hard at work). Now to what dreams mean... well, that's mostly up to each individuals interpertation. A lot of times you dreams will create a object that may mean someting to you and you do something with it. Or another may be you just hanging out with your friends, to fully understand the meaning of a dream, one must first fully understand the brain... and to this day we have discovered... like 2% or might be 20% of what your brain is doing in each area. So to ask for a meaning of a dream is useful only if you ask yourself... but if anything they do create a rahter interesting conversation...

Seeing oneself eating in a dream is neither good nor bad. It has no particular meaning unless something else is going on in the dream, such as receiving food from a cherished friend, or having food after starving for days, or some other dramatic event. The meaning of dreams, when there is any meaning, lies in the emotions evoked by those dreams.
