This account about Abraham is found at (Genesis 22:3-12)and is a prophecy with both a minor and a major fulfillment.

Abraham pictured God sacrificing his son.

***Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his beloved son, showed strong faith, since Abraham knew that the 'promised seed' (Genesis 21:12)was to come through Isaac, and he believed that God would see that this was fulfilled somehow.(Hebrews 11:17-19) The 'Promised Land' was given to Abraham's descendants(Israelites)(Genesis 12:6, 7)because of HISfaithfulness, and Isaac's obedience in the process(since he was in his 20s at this time, and could have refused, but didn't)(Genesis 22:18; 26:4+5). Abraham 'as good as' offered up his son(James 2:21-23), because of this, his descendants were given the fulfillment of that promise, the land of Canaan. BUT in a greater fulfillment, the 'seed' came through Abraham in the form of the Christ.(Genesis 21:12)(Genesis 12:3)(Genesis 18:18)(Galatians 3:14)

***The parallel account would be God offering up HIS beloved son, Jesus (who also COULD have refused, but didn't), who WAS sacrificed, but then resurrected to life, to make the way open for faithful worshipers to follow. Born into the dedicated nation of Israel, as a 'son of Abraham' (Galatians 3:14+16, Matthew 1:1), but rejected by them as the coming Messiah, Jesus was the promised 'seed', and his "descendants" (or disciples)will also inherit 'a Promised Land' (on a larger scale) ...everlasting life in paradise. (Isaiah 54:1-6 / Galatians 4:22-31)(John 3:16)(Psalms 37:11,29 / Matthew 5:5)
