Roquat is the original name of the Nome King character created by Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856 - May 6, 1919], author and creator of the Royal Histories of Oz series. The name is introduced first in 'Ozma of Oz'. It appears again in 'The Emerald City of Oz'. But in the subsequent 'Tik-Tok of Oz' and 'The Magic of Oz', the Nome King's name becomes Ruggedo.
Ozma Baum Mantele's birth name is Baum, Frances Ozma.
Drinking of the waters from the Fountain of Oblivion in 'The Emerald City of Oz' causes the Nome King to forget his name. But we don't know that until everything is explained in 'Tik-Tok of Oz'. That he doesn't remember his name and therefore must come up with another is the reason why the Nome King's character ends up with two different names. His original name is 'Roquat' in 'Ozma of Oz' and 'The Emerald City of Oz'. What with forgetfulness, he takes on the new name of 'Ruggedo' in 'Tik-Tok of Oz' and 'The Magic of Oz'.
