Retro cups are cups that have courses from previous Mario Kart games. Retro cups first appeared in Mario Kart Super Circuit, which had all of the courses from Super Mario Kart in it.
Retro cups are the 4 cups at the bottom of the list of cups.... shell cup, banana cup,leaf cup and lightning cup
First of all you already have 2 retro cups the shell cup and the banana cup.The retro cups are all four cups on the bottom row.To unlock the other retro cups(which are the leaf cup and the lightning cup.)you have to get trophies in the first two retro cups then you can play the leaf cup when you get 1st 2nd or 3rd place then you can play the lightning cup and when you get one of the top places on that cup,you can go back and try to get a star rank on all the the retro cups so you can get bowser jr.
Get 1 star rank or better on all 100cc retro cups... The retro cups are on the BOTTOM row of lists of cups.
Beat 100cc retro cups with 1 star or better.
Earn trophies at the ones you have. You should have two retro cups at the start. (Their names are Shell and Banana... just in case...)

Shell, leaf, lighting, and banana cups
The "Wii Cups" in Mario Kart Wii are the cups in the top half of the cup selection menu. In Mario Kart DS these were known as the "Nitro Cups". The Wii cups are the Mushroom Cup, the Flower Cup, the Star Cup and the Special Cup. The Star and Special Cups have to be unlocked.
Retro Cups are the cups in which previous courses in older Mario Kart games are reused. In the case of Mario Kart Wii, the bottom four cups consist of old tracks.
