Basically, yes... But you should say "the mass". Atomic Mass units are a unit of mass.

The subatomic particles are: protons, neutrons and electrons.
Protons and neutrons are formed from quarks.
amu or eV are commonly used. amu applies to atoms and larger, and eV applies to atomic particles. Then m = E/c2 allows one to go from energy to mass (which are really small numbers).

E = MC2; energy is equal to a quantity of matter. When protons (and neutrons) combine in an atomic nucleus, the resultant mass is less than that of the individual particles. This is the mass defect, and the 'missing' mass is a result of the energy binding the particles together. The larger the mass defect for a particular atom (isotope), the larger the amount of nuclear binding energy.
neutrons and protonsbut NOT electrons (the almost have no mass)
Some objects are more dense than others due either to the mass of the particles in the material, the atomic number or how closely the particles are packed together. For example, lead, has a high density because its particles have a very high mass. But a material like polystyrene, doesn't have a high density as the particles are spaced far apart and they have a low mass value.
By beaming alpha particles through gold foil and witnessing some of them deflecting, there had to be a mass larger than an alpha particle in the atomic structure. This disproved the plum pudding theory of the atom, as electrons would not have had enough mass to deflect the larger alpha particles.
Demitri Mendeleev. He arranged it by atomic mass
Dalton Da or amu u
The SI unit is the unified atomic mass unit (amu), the symbol is u. Or Dalton, the symbol is Da.
The atomic mass unit is used to express the measure of the atomic mass.
Atomic Mass Unit (amu)
Atomic mass unit
AMU (Atomic Mass Unit) is the SI masses of particles for nucleus.
The sum of protons and neutrons in an atom is called mass number.
The atomic mass unit is 1/12 from the mass of the isotope 12C.
The approximate mass is 11. Technically you could express this in units of daltons as 11 Da (Daltons previously called amu, Atomic Mass unit, or as 11 (the dimensionless, relative atomic mass which chemists simply call atomic weight) .
The Si unit used for the masses of particles is the atomic mass unit (amu).
protons and neutrons
protons and neutrons are subatomic particles and adding the two amounts together gives you the atomic mass unit
