A grating snore of about a second is the call of the Tarahumara Frog (Rana tarahumarae, Lithobates tarahumarae).
Specifically, the voice of the Tarahumara Frog never gets loud. It is heard in spring and in late summer after very heavy rains. The call is made even though the male Tarahumara Frog has no vocal sac.
