The Tasmanian Devil (Sarcophilus harrisii) is a carnivorous marsupial mammal that is native to Tasmania, the island state of Australia located off the southeast coast of the continent. It is found throughout Tasmania. Any maps indicating its range reflect that it is found throughout the island, although it is not found in the alpine regions or mountainous countryside.
Their habitat is eucalypt forest, woodlands, heath and farmland. Tasmanian devils have black fur with a white streak across the chest and often one across the rump. This assists the creature to camouflage in its native forest habitat.
Tasmanian devils are not restricted to any particular terrain. They are found from flat grasslands to rocky hillsides and slopes, as long as there is suitable vegetation and bushland in which to hide.
The Tasmanian devil lives throughout Tasmania, the southern island state of Australia, but nowhere else.
