The inclined plane is one of several simple machines that have been known to us since ancient times. No way to know where it was first used and who invented it. The inclined plane was already well known by the time of the ancient Egyptians (3000b.c.e.)
frontal plane
A normal P-51 did not have the range for that, but possibly with extra drop tanks. At least one 'civilianised ' P-51 has flown the Atlantic.
Those are external fuel tanks, which can be dropped from the plane in flight when they run out of fuel, increasing the aircraft's range. They are also usually dropped when entering a dogfight, in order to reduce weight and make the aircraft more aerodynamic.
