The bladder is what collects the urine from your body, prior to urinisation, or disposal, of the liquid. Think of it like a storage tank. If you didnt have a bladder, you would have nowhere to store the urine in your body, and youd end up either falling very very sick, or running to the loo every 2 minutes to pee 2 drops of urine.
The purpose of the urinary bladder is to remove wastes that are filtered from the bloodstream. The fact that it has spinchter muscles that we can control, as opposed to say constantly weeping out of our pores, makes it quite advantageous, as well. Otherwise you would need tubes going from the kidneys to let the urine out. They are called a Nephrostomy.
To hold the liquids that you body produces.

The urinary bladder is situated behind the Vent (Anus) on the fish. Just as it is on humans, it is there to release any unwanted waste from the body. Fish have two bladders, one is a swim bladder and the other is the urinary bladder. Do not get these mixed up. The swim bladder allows the fish swim in different densities of water and the urinary bladder is to pass urine. Fish do not use urea to get rid of their nitrogen like mammals do, but instead use NH3 Ammonia.
