Single action or double action? Exactly how is it marked? sales@countrygunsmith.net
You can get faux ivory grips for a Colt Walker at: tombstonegrips.com
$1500 -$1600 without Ivory grips,,, the grips would need evaluation.
You have the Smith & Wesson .32 Double Action, probably the 3rd Model, made around 1883. The .32 DA 2nd Model highest serial number was 22172, then the 3rd Model was introduced at 22173. In typically found condition, these trade at $150-$250 but really excellent examples can reach $500. If those are actual IVORY grips, add about $75-$100. sales@countrygunsmith.net
Patton carried a Colt Single Action Army on his right hip, and a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum on his left hip. Both pistols had ivory grips. He was also known to carry a Colt .380 in a shoulder holster.(Remember the scene in "Patton", where he climbs down from the second floor during an air raid, and starts shooting at the German airplanes?)
The S&W 32 safety hammerless (aka safety new departure or lemon squeezer) was made from 1888-1902 for the first model, second model was from 1902-1909,and the third model from 1909-1937.The value of all these models will depend on the amount of original finish remaining on the handgun in question. You will need to add this info to your question along with the type of grips(wood ,pearl, ivory etc.)and the amount of nickel plating remaining to get a more accurate value to your Smith and Wesson handgun.
Hey, if you find the answer let me know as I have the same gun with ser # k343946
No, but there is a version with plastic inlays that look like ivory carvings.
