Value is too difficult to be accurate without seeing the gun. Condition which includes the amount of original finish and original configuration will determine value. Recommend taking it to a gun shop for appraisal.
1988; 50-700 usd
550 USD or so
i think this isn't the site you should post this question on. you should go to a gun specialist. With the description that you have provided, and the serial number,it sounds as if you have a Browning BAR(semi auto) 30-06 that was made in the year 1988(letters PP in the serial number).these fine made rifles will bring between 375-550 dollars depending on the amount of overall finish remaining on the wood and metal, and a good bore.
The serial number 45987 does not show in any of my sources. The first number begins with 70000. There is one source, Proofhouse.com, which states that before 1958, Browning serial numbers did not contain date or model information, and cannot be dated using the serial number. I would further ask, does your gun actually state 'Hi-Power'? and does it have browning grips or 'FN' [ Fabrique Nationale ] stamped on them? Is the hammer spur or round, does it have fixed or adjustable sights? Is it made in Belgium and assembled in Potugal? All these things may be pieced together to get closer to a manufacting date. John Moses Browning designed this gun, as well as many others such as the Colt Government 1911, but sold the designs or had them made by other companies. FN made most of his guns and FN finally purchased the company in 1977. In 1991 GIAT bought FN -Browning, and they also had some dealings with B.C Miroku [Japan]
The ELG says it was made in Belgium and the crown says no earlier than 1893. The mass import of shotguns from Europe (I'm assuming you are in the US) pretty much ended with the start of WWI, so probably prior to 1914.
Impossible to answer without the serial number.
550 USD or so
Made in 1987. Value could be from 500-multiple thousands. You don't describe what grade, if it was made and assembled in Belgium, made in Belgium and assembled in Portugal, describe the condition, accessories, box, papers, etc..
1996
Your browning model BAR which was made in 1985 should say either made in belguim on the barrel,or made in belguim assembled in portugal on the barrel.
Blue Book of Gun Values is a good place to start.
Look at the serial #. If it starts with an A The A stands for Antwerp. It was assembled in Antwerp, Belgium. B stands for Bassildon, England C is American built. Some of the other numbers tell you the date of manufacture.
