Oddly, this is a hard question. The reason is that, while companies are not allowed to discriminate by age, this sometimes very physical job needs someone in reasonably good shape and age is a factor. First, let's discuss the different kinds of paramedics: * Firefighters and other public servants: This job category pays the best and gives you the best all-around training. Big cities will typically have very rigorous entrance and training requirements (LA for instance wants you to pass all the tests as Firefighter before you go on to Paramedic -- LA Sherriff has a hiring cutoff at 40 or 45 -- can't recall exactly), but smaller and more rural areas will be more flexible. * Contracted EMT's: These are EMT's working for a private company contracted by a Fire Department. The level of medical/first responder training is nearly the same as civil servant, but the pay is slightly lower as are the physical requirements. * EMT 1 -- Transport: This class is what evolved from Ambulance Drivers. While they are classed as EMT, they are far less trained (usually) and their job is focused on performing minimal stabilization of the patient, and transporting them ASAP. This lowest level of training should have the most flexible policy on entrance, and can -- sometimes -- provide entry into the two higher levels. I think you're going to find the age maximum is about 40-55 depending on where and who you ask. There is no federally mandated requirement, so you'll see different areas with different requirements (as an aside, the head of high altitude medical services at Denali State Park, AL (probably the most dangerous peak in the US) last I checked was around 75).

To find a job on emt, you should go to this site www.indeed.com/q-EMT-jobs.html. It will be easier for you if you already have an EMT certification and you can have a good work.
It depends from state to state, but most requires you to work a full year as an EMT Basic before you can become an EMT Paramedic. You need to take the EMT Paramedic training and certification.
An EMT (emergency medical technician) can work anywhere. You see them mostly working with paramedics on an ambulance but they can also be with a firedepartment. I have some EMT friends who work at factories. They are part of the special response teams. I am an EMT at the first responder level.
You become an EMT and work your way up. An EMT course at a community college is about 6 mos. After 2000 hrs as an EMT, you are certified as a paramedic.
EMT training courses prepare an individal to pass EMT accreditation exams in order to work as an EMT Basic or EMT Paramedic. Both provide emergency medical care to the injured or ill in a number of settings.
In WI 18 or older to practice.
Check with the local school that provide emt training, like the community college.
Any applicants must be at least the age of 17, and it is important to provide proof that you have completed an NC approved EMT training program. Must have EMT credentials.
Well, there are different levels of to being an EMT; there are EMT-B's, EMT-I's (in some states) and EMT-P. So I suggest you do some investigation work and decide which one you actually want to pursue. Overall, being an EMT is a fun gig. Depending on where you live definetly determines how many hours a week you'll work to what you'll actually see. If you work in a busy city, you'll definetly see some things and work a ton of hours. Once again, pay varies with where you work. A lot of EMT's work several hours over their norm because in more cases that not, the pay leaves something to be desired.
