Were known as the J C Higgins model 10 these guns were made between 1945 to 1956 .They were jointly made by Harrington & Richardson and High Standard for Sears .Guns marked 583 1101 and 583 1102 Were known as the Model 11 these were made between 1958 and 1962 these guns were made by High Standard Manufacturing for Sears Models 10, 11 and 14 were bolt action shotguns made by High Standard. 583 18 was made by Sears/High Standard . in 1949 November 1949 was the date of the drawing of the drawing for the roll mark die. It is moerl likely a 1950 10 1951 production date.
I received a J C Higgins Ranger model 853.990 as a gift in 1960. I don't know if they were around before that or not.
