The Rolling block was made in 1907
You will have to contact Remington.
1907
The Remington model 4 rolling block rifle was made between 1890-1933.If you have a model 4S military rifle, then these were made by Remington from 1913-1923.your rifle has either a 22.5in barrel,or a 24in barrel. These were chambered in .22,.25 Stevens,or 32 caliber.
Is the model # marked? is it an auto, pump, rolling block, ???
The answer is yes. How do I know; I have a model 4 rolling block rifle. I am trying to find out the year of mfg. The serial# is 354682
Hexagon barrel what? Model? pump, rolling block, ?? Condition?
It's on the barrel underneath the forearm piece and on the trigger guard as well.
Depends greatly on which rolling block, there's to many to specify them all serial/date.
Prior to 1905 is the best answer I can provide
I can help a little.Your remington model 4 rolling block was made between the years 1890-1933.There waas a solid frame model and a takedown model available. These were chambered in 3 calibers..22,.25 caliber stevens, and in .32 cal. These had a 22.5in barrel,or a 24 inch barrel with both being octagon barrels. There was approximately 50,000 made during this time span.I hope this helps. Well by 1905 they were almost to serial 170,00 so before then.
i don't actually see the answer to edit but there is not "significance" in the serial or meaning it's just a serial. There's a prefix on the model 700's starting in later half of the 70's do to the date code rolling over but other then that Remington doesn't put an meanings in them.
After the 1968 Federal Gun Control Act, it became mandatory. Before that, many did not have a serial number. Crime was wiped out with the serial number addition. Yeah, right.
